ITIN application
CoreEnter the U.S. tax system compliantly — even without an SSN
An ITIN is the individual taxpayer identification number the IRS issues to people who aren't eligible for a Social Security Number (SSN). Think of it as your ID number inside the U.S. tax system. You need it for many things: applying for a U.S. credit card, opening an account to receive cross-border payments, filing with the IRS, and setting up a U.S. company. As an IRS-authorized CAA, we can verify your identity by video, so you never have to mail your original passport to the U.S.
Who it's for
- Non-U.S. tax residents and cross-border sellers who want a U.S. credit card and a U.S. credit history
- Cross-border e-commerce sellers who need a U.S. tax identity to receive payments and open accounts
- Founders planning to form a U.S. company and file with the IRS
- Non-U.S.-resident applicants who can't easily mail original documents to the U.S.
How it works
- 1
Assess and confirm eligibility
We review your situation and confirm you have a valid reason under IRS rules (e.g. a federal return to attach, or an applicable withholding/reporting exception) to decide whether now is the right time to apply.
- 2
Prepare documents
We guide you through Form W-7 and help you assemble your passport and other identity documents, checking everything for accuracy.
- 3
CAA video identity verification
As an IRS-authorized CAA, we verify your original passport over video — no need to mail it to the U.S.
- 4
Submit to the IRS and follow up
We package and submit the complete application to the IRS and track its progress, responding to any requests for additional documents.
- 5

FAQ
I'm outside the U.S. and have never been there — can I apply for an ITIN?
Yes. The ITIN is designed for people without an SSN and doesn't require you to be in the U.S. As a CAA, we can verify your passport by video — you don't need to travel or mail your original passport.
Once I have an ITIN, am I guaranteed a U.S. card or bank account?
No. An ITIN gives you a compliant U.S. tax identity, which is a prerequisite for many applications. Whether a card or account is approved is decided by the issuer or bank under its own policies — an ITIN alone is not approval.
How long does it take? Is approval guaranteed?
It usually takes 7–11 weeks, depending on IRS processing times and how complete your documents are. Approval is the IRS's decision. What we can do is prepare your application properly to reduce the chance of rejection — we can't guarantee the outcome on the IRS's behalf.
How is an ITIN different from an SSN or EIN?
An SSN is for U.S. citizens, permanent residents and those authorized to work in the U.S.; an EIN is a company's tax number; an ITIN is for individuals without an SSN, used for filing and identification. For personal cards and personal filing, non-U.S. residents typically use an ITIN.
